Creating Perceived Motivation Codes

Perceived Motivation codes enable the person reporting a student's disciplinary infraction to suggest a reason why the student may have committed the infraction. One example might be that the student's parents are divorcing. A Perceived Motivation code can be entered when the Incident or Referral record is created. You can add a Perceived Motivation code to the Incident or Referral if the option has been configured in the District Year Configuration of the Discipline module.

Setting up Perceived Motivation codes is optional. If you do set up these codes, they are applicable for the entire District.

Procedure

Select Menu > Administrative Access > Discipline.
Select Perceived Motivation under Codes.
You see the Perceived Motivation List, which displays any existing Perceived Motivation codes.
Verify you are in the correct District and school year by checking the information at the top left of the screen.

These codes are available district-wide and can be modified from any entity within the district.
Click Add Perceived Motivation at the top right of the screen.

You see the Add Perceived Motivation screen.
Enter a Perceived Motivation Code to identify the perceived motivation.

For example, you could enter DIV.
Enter a Perceived Motivation Description to further define the perceived motivation.

For example, you could enter Divorce to indicate the student's parents are divorcing.

Choose one of the options near the top left of the screen to save your work.

Option	Description
Save & Add Another	Saves the Perceived Motivation code and refreshes the Add Perceived Motivation screen so you can add another.
Save	Saves the Perceived Motivation code and you return to the Perceived Motivation List.
