Creating Weapon Codes

Note: You do not need to create these codes for your state's reporting requirements.
Weapon codes specify which weapons were involved in an Incident when you create a weapon-related incident record. For example, if a weapon is found in a student's locker, you can use a Weapon code to identify the type of weapon discovered.

Weapon codes are District-defined and apply to the entire district.

Procedure

Welcome to Creating Weapon Codes. To create a weapon code, we need to go into the Discipline module. Within the Discipline module, we can find Weapon within the Codes area. From here, we can select Add Weapon to add in our new weapon code. On this screen, we need to enter in the Weapon Code and the Weapon Description. For this video, we are going to create a weapon code of Gun. Once we are done creating our weapon code, we can then select Save and Add Another if we would like to add another weapon code. However, if we have created all of the codes that we would like to use for now, we can select Save. Once we select Save, we can see that the weapon code that we have just created is now displaying within the Weapon List. And that's all you need to do to create weapon codes.


  1. Select Menu > Administrative Access > Discipline.
  2. Select Weapon under Codes.

    You see the Weapon List, which displays existing Weapon codes.

  3. Verify you are in the correct District and school year by checking the information at the top left of the screen.

    These codes are available district-wide and can be modified from any entity within the district.

  4. Click Add Weapon near the top right of the screen.

    You see the Add Weapon screen.

  5. Complete the appropriate fields.

    Required fields are identified with an asterisk. You must complete required fields before you can save your work.

    1. Under the Weapon Details heading, enter a Weapon Code.

      For example, you could enter PELLET.

    2. Enter a Weapon Description.

      For example, you could enter Pellet/BB/Air Gun.

  6. Choose one of the options near the top left of the screen to save your work.
    Option Description
    Save & Add Another Saves the Weapon code and refreshes the Add Weapon screen so you can add another.
    Save Saves the Weapon code and you return to the Weapon List, which displays the Weapon code you created.
