The Entity Group Year Configuration in the Discipline module enables you to determine the settings to be used for Action Details. You can specify whether alternate action details will be used. For example, if an Action is scheduled for a specific date, you can set up an alternate action so that it can be served on another date. You can also specify which days of the week each action detail type can be scheduled, including detentions, in school suspensions, out of school suspensions, and expulsions.
Additionally, you can require a discipline officer to be specified when creating an Incident or Referral. If you require a discipline officer, you must identify the default discipline officer to ensure any student with an incident or referral who does not have a discipline officer is automatically assigned that default discipline officer.

Configuring discipline entity settings enables you to specify action details, such as detentions, in-school suspensions, out-of-school suspensions, and expulsions. You can also determine which days of the week these action details can be scheduled and served, and if a discipline officer is required for certain records. If your entity prints discipline slips, you’ll also have the ability to configure these settings. Let’s begin by navigating to the Entity Group Year Configuration setting within the Discipline module. The options on the General tab allow us to determine how we would like our action details to be set up. By checking the Use Alternate Action Details for Detentions box, we’ll be able to add multiple action details for actions to allow students to determine when they’d like to serve their detention. For our purposes, we are going to leave this box unchecked. Next is the Days of the Week to Schedule Action Details On area. Here, we can determine the days of the week we can schedule action details. This enables us to determine when students can serve detentions, in-school suspensions, out-of-school suspensions, and expulsions. The next area on this screen is the Discipline Entry Option Details. Here, we can determine whether we would like a default Action Status code to display on our actions when we’re creating them. By checking this box, we can also determine what that default Action Status code should be set to. The options that we have are S - Served or O - Open. We can also determine if we want to require a discipline officer to be required on incident or referral reports. By checking this box, we indicate that we want this setting and we’ll select a default discipline officer for this example. Now we will select the Save Changes option to save our entries and select the Discipline Slip tab to configure this entity’s discipline slip settings. On this tab, we can determine how we’d like discipline slips to be printed if our entity prints discipline slips. We can enter the Discipline Slip Title now. For our example, we’ll enter Detention Notice. We’ll check the boxes to include the information we’d like printed on the slips. For our example, we’ll leave the currently selected boxes checked. We also want to include the Offense Description, so we’ll check this box. The Include Signature Line option allows us to configure who’s required to sign these discipline slips. For our example, we’ll accept the default selections of Parent, Student, and Office. Once we have all the options we want to include selected on this screen, we can save our changes. Now that you know how to configure discipline entity settings, you can ensure that all action details are set up and attached to specific days of the week, require discipline officers on incidents and referrals, as well as ensure that discipline slips will be set up at your entity.
