To track student disciplinary infractions in the Discipline module, you must set up Offense codes. These codes help standardize the information you collect and report. Offense codes describe student infractions or violations of your code of conduct policy, such as inappropriate cell phone use, causing a classroom disruption, possession of alcohol or drugs, and vandalism. Depending on how you set up Offense codes, they can be used for both Referrals by a teacher and Incidents recorded by a Discipline Officer or other staff member. When setting up a code, you can restrict the possible Action codes to be assigned to a student for the offense to a set list of Action codes. You can also link Offense Level codes and Action codes to the offense if you wish to use these codes as your defaults.
Offense codes are organization-defined and apply to the entire organization.

You may see fields in the following media that do not apply to your state. Please reference the written documentation for guidance on fields applicable to your state.
If you plan to assign an Offense Level code to the Offense code as a default, Offense Level codes must be set up.
If you plan to assign an Action code to the Offense code as a default, or set up a limited list of allowable actions, Action codes must be set up.
Welcome to creating Offense codes. To create an Offense code, we're going to go into the Menu icon and into the Discipline module. Within the Discipline module we can select Offense in the Codes area. From here we can select Add Offense to add in our new Offense code that we would like to create. Today I'm going to create an Offense code of cheating. I'm going to enter in the Offense Code and the Offense Description. We can then determine if we would like to set an Offense Level Default for this Offense code. We can select the Offense Level Default that best describes the severity of this particular offense. For this video, I'm going to select Minor. We can then also determine if there is a Default Action that needs to be attached to this offense when creating a record for a student of cheating. For this video, we're going to leave that blank. We can then also determine if we would like to allow our staff to use this particular Offense code for a referral. We can then also determine if we would like to Allow Action Recommendations for our staff to be able to recommend the action that a student should serve if they have the offense attached to them of cheating. We can then also Limit Actions that we would like to be able to attach to this particular Offense code if we're creating a cheating offense record for a student. If we check this box, we will then have to go in and determine which actions we would like to be able to be attached to this particular Offense code. We can then determine if this Offense code has a drug or weapon affiliation. For this particular Offense code, because it is a cheating code, we're going to leave this set to None. We can also then check the box for Injury Threat if this particular offense has caused any sort of injury threat to a staff or student. For our purposes, we're going to leave this blank. Please fill out your state and federal reporting fields, as needed, for your particular state. Once you have all the fields completed on this screen, you can then Save & Add Another, if you would like to add in another Offense code, or if this is the only Offense code that you would like to create at this time, you can then select Save. For our purposes, we're going to select Save. We can see now that our new code of Cheating is displaying on our Offense code list. And that's all there is to creating an Offense code.
