Creating Offense Level Codes

Offense Level codes describe the severity of a disciplinary infraction. An example code sequence is minor, major, and emergency. An Offense Level code can be included in an Offense record to distinguish between the severity of different occurrences of that offense. This can also be used as a tracking tool. For example, your District may enforce stricter consequences once students have committed a certain number of major or emergency infractions.

Setting up Offense Level codes is optional. If you do set up these codes, they can be used for the entire district.

Procedure

  1. Select Menu > Administrative Access > Discipline.
  2. Select Offense Level under Codes.
    You see the Offense Level List, which displays existing Offense Level codes.
  3. Verify you are in the correct District and school year by checking the information at the top left of the screen.

    These codes are available district-wide and can be modified from any entity within the district.

  4. Click Add Offense Level at the top right of the screen.

    You see the Add Offense Level screen.

  5. Enter an Offense Level Code to identify the offense level.

    For example, you could enter MIN.

  6. Enter an Offense Level Description to further define the offense level.

    For example, you could enter Minor Infraction.

  7. Choose one of the options near the top left of the screen to save your work.
    Option Description
    Save & Add Another Saves the Offense Level code and refreshes the Add Offense Level screen so you can add another.
    Save Saves the Offense Level code and you return to the Offense Level List which displays the code you created.
