Uploading Reports

You can upload reports to make them available in your database, such as a Skyward report or one created in Crystal Reports, a third-party software. This process creates a new report in your database that can then be treated as any other report you create by manually building or cloning one.

Uploading reports also enables you to share reports between databases and troubleshoot report template setup. For example, if you create a report in a test environment in the software and wish to use it in the live version of the software, you can export the report and upload it into the live software. You cannot upload reports from any other software system. Before your file is uploaded, the software reads the format to ensure it is in the standard format for a Skyward or Crystal report. If it is not, you receive an error message.

To access report files that you can import into your database, you can navigate to the File Sharing area of the Community, found under Resources.

Uploading reports enables you to share reports between databases and troubleshoot the report template setup. For example, if you create a report in a test environment in the software and wish to use it in the live version, you can export the report and upload it into the live software. We can begin this process by heading to the Report Manager feature within the Reporting module. From here, we can upload our report. We have the option to select the file we wish to upload or drag and drop it. Once the file has been loaded, we’ll see a checkmark indicating the upload was successful. Let’s run the process. We can now see any successful or failed records and can click Close to complete the process. Now that you know how to upload reports, you can make reports readily available in your database.

  1. Select Menu > Administrative Access > Reporting.
  2. Select Report Manager under Features.
  3. Click Upload Reports near the top right of the screen.
  4. Click the Choose Files icon and select the file you wish to upload.

You can also drag and drop files instead of using the Choose Files icon if you wish.

If you are uploading a Skyward report, the file type must be a .sxr file and the file must be from a database that is using an earlier version or the same version of the software as the database being uploaded into. For example, if you receive a file from someone who has installed the most recent software release and you have not, the file cannot be uploaded to your system until you update the software.

If you are uploading a Crystal report, the file type must be a .rpt file.

  5. Click Run Process near the top left of the screen.
  6. Click Close near the top left of the screen.
