Updating Family Address
If a family moved from one physical address to a new physical address, the Family tab group of the Student Profile enables you to move the family to the new address while retaining a record of the previous address. If the student has one or more guardians employed at your organization, their address cannot be moved and must be updated through Human Resources (HR).

You can update physical addresses for families in your organization if they've recently moved to a new home. This helps keep your records up to date and ensures that any mail sent arrives at the appropriate address. To begin, we'll navigate to the Student Profile feature within the Student module. After verifying that we're in the correct student profile, we'll select the Family sub-tab within the Family tab group. For our example, Dorothy and her mother no longer live at the address we currently have on file. Let's select the drop-down icon under the Family 1 Information and choose Move Address. Here, we see a list of the names that will be moved from this current address. If there are other families living at this address who will also be moving, we would check the box to move those additional names to the new address. Since this is not the case, we'll simply click Next. We need to enter the new address that they will be moving to. The Address Type defaults to USB – US Street Based and can be left as is since their address is located in the United States. Their new address has a Street Number of 1414. Let's enter that information. They also have a Directional Code of East that can be specified now. The name of the street they now live on is Keeper Road. Let's enter that now. No secondary address information is needed for this address, so we'll leave those fields blank. We can enter the city this new address is located into the corresponding field. The State field defaults to the state the system is based in, but can be changed if necessary. Let's enter the ZIP Code associated with this address. This is the five-digit numerical code added to a postal address to assist in sorting mail. We have the option to specify the County and Township this address is located in if we'd like. For our example, this address is located within Orbit Creek Township of Cook County. Latitude and longitude information can be entered if we'd like to keep track of the degree measurements of the address's distance from the equator and prime meridian. The GEOID indicates the location of an address through the use of a 12-digit ID number assigned by the United States Census Bureau that is a combination of values in a set order. This order includes the two-digit state number, three-digit county number, six-digit census tract number, and a one-digit block group number. If we'd like to keep track of this information as well, we can enter that in now. Let's click Save & Continue. Under the Address Details heading, we'll verify the address types are checked. Since this new address will become the first address attached for this family, all these options are checked and cannot be modified. Let's save our work. Updating family addresses is an easy process that helps ensure your organization has the correct address information in case a family moves from one address to a new address.
