Restoring Dropped Student Attendance Period

Dropped student attendance records can be restored manually if the system did not automatically restore the dropped attendance period record when a student is scheduled in a different Course during that same Period. For example, if an attendance record is created to reflect that a student will be missing an existing third period class on a specific date, but then the student drops that third period class and adds a different third period class, the system restores that attendance record to indicate the student will be missing the new class for third period. If the system does not restore the record automatically, you can manually add those dropped attendance records.
The record will be processed through the normal validation process, therefore, if a student does not have a scheduled Section for that period, you will see a validation message indicating why the attendance record cannot be attached. If you can add the attendance record, then the dropped attendance record will be removed and the correct attendance period record will be added for the student.

Before you begin

  1. Select Menu > Administrative Access > Attendance.
  2. Select Dropped / Deleted Attendance under Features.

    You see the Dropped Attendance tab of the Dropped / Deleted Attendance screen.

  3. Click the Open icon to the left of the dropped attendance record you wish to restore.

    Alternatively, you can restore a dropped attendance period by clicking the drop-down icon next to the record you wish to restore, and selecting Restore Dropped Student Attendance Period from the Record Options drop-down menu. Skip to step 5.

    You see the Dropped Student Attendance Period Details screen.

  4. Click Restore Dropped Student Attendance Period near the top right of the screen.

    You see the Restore Dropped Student Attendance Period screen.

  5. Click Save near the top left of the screen to save your work.
    Step Information

    The Save option only displays if there is a student section record. When you save the record, the system evaluates the student's section record to see if there is attendance recorded for the student during that period. If the student has existing attendance for the section, you receive an error message and cannot restore the dropped attendance.

    Expected Result

    You return to the Dropped Attendance tab of the Dropped / Deleted Attendance screen, which no longer displays the record you restored.
