Mass Updating Individual Student Assignments

Mass updating assignments for an individual student enables you to apply the same settings to multiple assignments at once. You can update the Missing or No Count checkboxes as well as remove scores or add a score of 0 to unscored assignments. This process can be completed as often as necessary while the Grading Period is open. Additionally, only assignments from the most specific grading period will be updated. For example, clicking mass update assignments from the Quarter 3 grading period will not update assignments attached to the Midterm 3 grading period, even though they technically fall within the date range.

Mass updating an individual student’s assignments enables you to efficiently update a student’s assignments en masse for all existing assignments within a grading period rather than having to update assignments individually for a class you teach. Let’s begin by navigating to the Gradesheet feature within the Gradebook module. We’ll select the gradebook we want to view now. Here, we see all the students enrolled in this course, their current grades, and all existing assignments for this course. We’ll notice that some students have assignments that do not have grades entered and are identified with an asterisk. We can click on Enter Scoring Mode, which will make this gradesheet editable. For our example, our student Harriett Smith has three unscored assignments. We’ll click on the desired grade bucket for Harriett and select Mass Update Assignments. Within the Mass Update Assignments pop-up, we have multiple options to choose from. Because we want to assign all unscored past due assignments with a zero, as well as mark the assignments as missing, we’ll select the corresponding radio button. Let’s save this selection. We’ll notice that all of her assignments that previously had no grades entered are now marked appropriately and are identified as green. We can continue these steps for any remaining students that we want to mass update assignments for. The Undo and Redo options allow us to revert or redo the selections we originally chose to assign to these grades if we decide that we no longer want to apply the mass update option selected. Since the option we chose is correct and no other students' grades need to be updated, we’ll click Exit Scoring Mode to finalize these changes. Now that you know how to mass update individual student’s assignments, you can efficiently update and keep track of your students’ grades and assignments.
