Dashboard shortcuts allow you to easily navigate to particular screens of the software that you frequently visit. For this video, let’s discuss how to dock a screen, create a favorite, add a tile, add a live tile, and add a widget to your dashboard. For this example, we’re in Teacher Access and we’ll navigate to the Gradesheet feature within the Gradebook module. Because we often navigate to this screen, we want to add it to our dock for ease of access. We’ll select the Dock option near the top right of the screen. We can click on the Add to Dock option and we’ll see the Gradebook Class List screen has been added. If we navigate back to the Home screen, we can see the dock and select it to easily navigate to that area of the software. It’s important to note that our dock can be viewed from any area of the software. Next, let's add a favorite. For this example, if we go into the Assignment Class List of the Gradebook module, we can add this screen as a favorite by clicking on the unfilled Star icon next to the screen name. Once completed, this has been added to our Favorites list, which can be accessed by selecting the Star icon next to the Menu. We can also view this list from any area of the software. If we head back to the Home screen, we can see that this has also created a tile for us that can be used to navigate to the Assignment Class List. Next, we’ll create a tile. For this example, we’ll go to the Daily Attendance feature within the Attendance module. We can select a class and add this as a tile to our dashboard. By selecting the More option, we can click on Add Daily Attendance Tile to Dashboard. Here, we can begin customizing how we want this tile to display. We can change the Display Title, choose to show the associated icon, select the size of the tile from the available options, and configure the color for this tile. Once we’ve made our changes, we’ll click Save and can head back to the Home screen where we’ll be able to see the tile we just created. By selecting this tile, we’ll be directed to that area. We can also choose to add a live tile to our dashboard. Live tiles allow us to view information in the system that reflects live data. For this example, we’ll navigate to the Student List screen within the Student module. We’ll select the More option again and click on Add Live Tile to Dashboard in the drop-down menu. Again, we can choose to update the Display Title, toggle on or off the associated icon, choose the appropriate tile size, and configure colors for this tile. Let’s select Save and navigate back to the home screen. We’ll see the associated live tile which reflects the number of students that we currently have. As students are added or removed from any of our classes, this live tile will update on our dashboard. Lastly, let’s add a widget to our dashboard. Within the Dashboard Library, we can choose to add a widget from any of the tab groups that are made available to us. For this example, we’ll select the My Messages sub-tab within the Message Center tab group. The configurations we see are dependent on the widget we select, and for this example, we can update the Display Title if we’d like. We also have the option to select a different tile size. As we make these selections, the preview under the Dashboard Item Preview heading will update. Once we’ve made all the changes we’d like, we can select Add to My Dashboard before exiting out of this screen. Now that you know how to create dashboard shortcuts, you can easily navigate to the screens that you frequently visit.
