Copying Grade Calculations to Other Grading Periods

If you have modified the grade calculations for at least one Grading Period, this process enables you to copy the settings to other grading periods. For example, if all your grading periods will use the same calculation type, you can configure one and then copy the settings to the other grading periods to save yourself time.

Once you have updated the grade calculations for one grading period, you can quickly copy those settings to other grading periods if necessary. To begin this process, let’s navigate to the Gradesheet feature within the Gradebook module. We're going to select the class that we’d like to make the update for. From here, let’s click on the Settings option. We’ll select the Grade Calculations sub-tab under the Calculation Settings tab group. Let’s use the drop-down to the left of the grading period where the grade calculation has been updated and choose Copy Grade Calculation Setup. Now, we can select the other grading periods that we would like to copy this information to. Keep in mind, we can only copy to grading periods that are still open. Let’s run the process. We can see that the copy has been successful and can close out to complete this process. Now you know how to quickly copy grade calculations from one grading period to another grading period.

  1. Select Menu > Teacher Access > Gradebook.
  2. Select Gradesheet under Features.
    If you have not opened a gradesheet in your current session, you see the Gradebook Class List, which displays a Tile for each class you teach.

    If you have already opened a gradesheet in your current session, you return to the most recently opened gradesheet. To select a different class, click Class List near the top right of the screen.

  3. Verify you are in the correct school year by checking the information at the top left of the screen.
  4. Select the tile for the class where you wish to make changes to the Gradesheet.
  5. Click Settings near the top right of the screen.

    You see the Gradesheet Display sub-tab of the Display Settings tab group on the Gradesheet Settings screen.

  6. Select the Calculation Settings tab group at the left of the screen.
  7. Select the Grade Calculations sub-tab at the left of the screen.

    You see the grading periods associated with the class, as well as the calculation type for each grading period.

  8. To apply the Grade Calculation settings you chose to another grading period, click the drop-down icon to the left of the appropriate modified grading period.

    Alternatively, you can click the Open icon to the left of the modified grading period. Then click Copy Grade Calculation Setup near the top right of the screen. Skip to step 10.

    You see the Record Options drop-down menu.

  9. Select Copy Grade Calculation Setup from the menu.

    You see the Copy Grade Calculation screen, which displays a list of grading periods for the class.

  10. Check the box for each grading period you wish to copy the settings of the selected grading period to.

    Checking the box at the top of the column will select all grading periods. You can only copy settings to current and future grading periods.

  11. Click Run Process near the top left of the screen.

    You see a message indicating the copy was successful.

  12. Click Close near the top left of the screen.

    You return to the Grade Calculations sub-tab of the Gradesheet Settings screen.
